Call for Expressions of Interest (EOI): remote Equity-Centred Organisational Development & Advisory Consultants

CIVICUS is a global alliance of civil society organisations and activists dedicated to strengthening citizen action and civil society worldwide. In line with its commitment to equity, justice, and continuous organisational development, CIVICUS is expanding its database of pre-screened consultants. These remote consultants will support key areas of work that reflect CIVICUS values and strategic priorities, particularly in cultivating developmental, learning-driven, and engagement-focused practices across the organisation.

CIVICUS invites expressions of interest from experienced individual consultants or consultancy teams who can offer services in one or more of the following thematic areas:

Key Areas of Expertise

1. Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Interventions

  • Facilitating processes that address systemic inequities related to race, gender, class, and other dimensions of identity.
  • Designing and implementing justice-based interventions to support organisational reflection and transformation.
  • Advising on internal systems and practices that embed equity and inclusion across all levels of the organisation.

2. Organisational Development (OD)

  • Expertise in organisational culture change, leadership development, and systems thinking.
  • Supporting strategic alignment, adaptive practices, and change management processes.
  • Facilitating team-building and promoting effective cross-organisational collaboration.

3. Leadership Coaching

  • Providing individual and group coaching focused on leadership growth, wellbeing, and resilience.
  • Supporting the development of inclusive leadership approaches and high-performing teams.

4. Job Classification and Remuneration Advisory

  • Technical knowledge in job evaluation, pay structures, and designing equitable compensation systems.
  • Developing or refining remuneration frameworks that are fair, transparent, and values-aligned.

5. Employee Engagement and Internal Communications

  • Designing and facilitating staff engagement initiatives, including surveys and feedback processes.
  • Enhancing internal communication strategies to foster trust, morale, and inclusivity.
  • Advising on systems for tracking and responding to employee wellbeing, motivation, and organisational culture.

Who CIVICUS is Looking For

CIVICUS is seeking remote consultants who demonstrate:

  • A strong commitment to equity, justice, and anti-oppressive practices.
  • Proven experience working with mission-driven, values-based, or civil society organisations.
  • A collaborative and adaptive approach grounded in care, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Relevant expertise in facilitation, coaching, or advisory work.

Qualifications and Educational Background:

To support CIVICUS effectively, consultants should possess a blend of academic qualifications, professional certifications, and/or substantial professional experience aligned with their area of practice.

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
  • A master’s degree or equivalent postgraduate training is strongly preferred, especially for consultants providing support in complex organisational development, leadership transformation, or equity and justice-focused work.

Preferred Fields of Study Include:

  • Equity & Justice: Social Justice, Gender Studies, Sociology, Human Rights, Development Studies, Cultural Studies
  • Organisational & Behavioural Sciences: Organisational Psychology, Organisational Behaviour, Systems Thinking
  • Leadership & Human Resources: Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration, Leadership Studies
  • Engagement & Communication: Communications, Psychology, or other related social sciences or humanities

CIVICUS also welcome applications from those who can demonstrate how their professional experience meaningfully contributes to their expertise.

  • A brief list of past clients or references (with contact details)
  • Indicative daily or hourly rates (inclusive of taxes)
  • (Optional) Samples of relevant work or a portfolio

Selected consultants will be added to CIVICUS internal consultant database and may be contacted for future assignments aligned with their expertise.
