Context
United Nations Volunteers should benefit from the duty of protection and care of the host entity equal to that of all its staff. The host entity’s support to the United Nations Volunteer includes, but is not limited to: Preliminary briefings on the organisation and the professional context including security, emergency procedures, cultural best practices and orientation to the local environment; Administrative support on arrival, including opening bank accounts, applications for residence permits and other official procedures required by the host government or host entity; Adequate guidance, mentoring and coaching by a supervisor, including the provision of a clear work plan and performance evaluation; Access to office space, office equipment, IT support and all other systems and tools required to achieve the objectives of the assignment, including an email address of the host entity; Access to the host entity’s institutional knowledge, training and learning programs; The inclusion of the volunteer in the safety plan; The management of their leave; Daily subsistence allowance for official travel, if applicable; Any changes to the assignment description between the actual recruitment of the UN Volunteer and his/her arrival at his/her duty station or during the assignment must be formalized with the UNV programme.
Task description
Under the direct supervision of WASH Specialist Climate, the Climate Change and Sustainability Specialist will:
- Knowledge Management and Exchange: Strengthen programs through data analysis and accurate reporting on climate change and sustainability;
- Program Development and Management: Contribute to program development and monitoring; Support work plans and recommend new approaches on climate change and sustainability Effective;
- Resource Utilization: Assist in fund reporting and monitoring on climate change and sustainability cross-cutting funding;
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Conduct field visits and evaluations for program assessment. Prepare status reports and participate in sector reviews on climate change and sustainability;
- Rights-Based Approach: Ensure quality and coherence in rights-based programs on climate change and sustainability;
- Capacity Building and Sustainability: Support capacity building for UNICEF staff, government and local partners on climate change and sustainability ;
- Advocacy and Policy Dialogue: Advocate for children’s and women’s rights perspectives in the context of climate change and sustainability. Engage in policy dialogue at national and community levels;
- Partnership and Collaboration: Develop partnerships for data exchange and program implementation on climate change and sustainability. Coordinate with internal and external counterparts for effective collaboration. Maintain linkage to regional networks and collaborate with HQ for overall coordination.

Contributed to the development of well-structured programs with clear objectives and plans for implementation, resulting in measurable progress towards sustainability goals ; Contributed to improved monitoring and reporting of climate change and sustainability results across sections ; Contributed to improved understanding of climate change and sustainability across stakeholders ; Enhanced data collection, analysis, and reporting leading to better-informed decision-making processes within climate change and sustainability programs ; Contributed to the inclusion of children and youth in the revision of national and international strategies and agreements on climate change and environment ;

Candidate must be a national of a country other than the country of assignment.
Requirements
Required experience
3 years of experience in climate change, environment or sustainability related work linked to social and economic dimensions ; Advanced knowledge of Microsoft software (Word-Excel-Teams-Planner-PPT)
Area(s) of expertise
Community development, Natural and life sciences, Social work
Required education level
Bachelor degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, International Relations, Government, Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Policy, Social Development, Community Development, Sustainable Development, Natural Sciences, Anthropology or another relevant technical field.
