Overview
The Center for Policy Research on Energy and the Environment at Princeton University invites applications for postdoctoral or more senior researchers to conduct research on national climate governance and institutions, with particular attention to developing country regions. Depending on the background of the candidate, specific areas of work may include:
-analysis of national climate laws and institutions
-national and local institutions for climate adaptation and resilience
-mechanisms and institutions to support green industrial policy.
The broader objective of this area of research is to understand effective forms of state capacity and the conditions for its emergence in response to climate challenges.
Eligibility Criteria
Princeton University seek candidates with doctoral level training in a related field (such as political science, geography, sociology, development studies, urban planning, public policy) for the Postdoctoral Research Associate position. Ideal candidates will have:
-Expertise with qualitative research methods including case studies and interviews; experience using AI tools for data analysis is desirable
-Field experience in developing country regions, notably South Asia, South-East Asia and Africa
-Excellent academic writing and communication skills in English.
The Postdoctoral Research Associatere position requires a PhD in a relevant field. Salary and full employee benefits are offered in accordance with Princeton University guidelines. This is a one-year position with a possibility of renewal depending on performance and funding. The Term of appointment is based on rank. Positions at the postdoctoral rank are for one year with the possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and continued funding; those hired at more senior ranks may have multi-year appointments.
The position reports to Professor Navroz K. Dubash. The appointment will be through the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA) and the researcher will collaborate with other researchers in SPIA and Princeton’s High Meadows Environmental Institute.
