Overview

The African School of Regulation (ASR) is offering 20 scholarships to qualified and highly motivated early/mid-career energy professionals to participate in the Power Sector Regulation in Africa course. This 10-week online program is your chance to gain tools and insights to tackle Africa’s energy challenge

Who Should Apply?

The African School of Regulation scholarships are designed for individuals passionate about shaping the future of Africa’s energy sector. Early/mid-career professionals from the following sectors are encouraged to apply:

  • Regulatory authorities
  • Ministries and government agencies
  • Power utilities
  • Academia
  • Investors
  • Development organizations

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the ASR Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of an African country.
  • Have a background in the energy, regulatory, or related sectors. A master’s degree in a relevant field + 3 years of experience is required. A BSc degree can be considered if provided with 2 additional years of experience.
  • Be currently working in the African energy sector.
  • Demonstrate financial need and a commitment to applying the knowledge gained in their local context.
  • Commit to actively participate the full 10-week online program, including weekly live classes, online discussions,and submission of weekly assignments, as well as the final report.

  • A copy of your CV/resume
  • A copy of your highest educational degree
  • Contact details of your current employer or a professional reference
  • A motivation statement explaining:
    • Your professional experience relevant to the course.
    • Why you are applying for this scholarship and your financial need.
    • How you plan to use the knowledge gained from the course to impact the energy sector in Africa.

Note the scholarship covers only the 10 weeks online course.  The optional 1-week in-person part is not included in this scholarship. Candidates are highly encouraged to seek for funding to cover the expenses related to their participation in the in-person part to fully benefit from the course.
