What is the Coalition Training Cohort?

Based on the Climate Advocacy Lab’s Blueprint for a Multiracial, Cross-Class Climate Movement (Second Edition), the Blueprint Training Cohort is a 5-month intensive peer learning and training experience designed for organizers and leaders that will provide a supportive, structured framework for individuals engaged in multiracial, cross-class climate coalitions.

Over the course of five months, Climate Advocacy Lab will cover essential concepts around:

  • How to identify common goals,
  • How to establish internal decision-making processes,
  • How to maintain momentum and cohesion, and
  • How to navigate conflict while maintaining relationships.

Through a combination of training sessions, peer learning discussions, and personalized coaching, participants will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to run effective climate coalitions.

Program goals:

Participants in the Coalition Training Cohort will be trained on how to diagnose, address, and strengthen the strategic and relational operation of their climate coalitions.

After completing this cohort, participants will be able to work through the obstacles commonly faced by coalitions throughout social justice movements, and have a renewed confidence in their ability to cultivate growth, collaboration, and impact in coalition settings. Participants will graduate from this training series with renewed confidence in their ability to cultivate growth, collaboration, and impact in their coalition settings.
