Join Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (YPFP) Brussels as a Part-time Policy Officer in the Policy & Diplomacy team
YPFP is looking for motivated individuals to join its Policy & Diplomacy team. As a Part-time Policy Officer, you will:
- Organise high-level events with key stakeholders
- Engage with embassies, NGOs, and international organisations
- Collaborate across teams and contribute to communications
- Bring your own ideas to life and help shape YPFP programming
This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in international affairs, expand your network, and contribute to a dynamic community of young professionals in Brussels.
YPFP is looking for proactive, organised candidates with a strong interest in foreign policy and the ability to work both independently and in a team.

Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (YPFP) fosters the next generation of foreign policy leaders by providing its members with the knowledge, skills, exposure, and relationships to tackle critical global challenges over the course of their careers. YPFP Brussels is a dynamic, nonpartisan, nonprofit organisation, part of a network with more than 20,000 selected members around the world who work in all fields of international affairs.
Job Title: Several Policy Officers in the Policy & Diplomacy team (Voluntary role)
The Environment: The Policy & Diplomacy team organises events series such as the Ambassador Series, the Multilateralism series, and events with representatives of all types of organisations working in international politics, such as NGOs, corporations, chambers of commerce, and others.
The Policy Officer will:
- Organise high-profile political events
- Liaise with external stakeholders, such as embassies, NGO’s, chambers of commerce, youth organisations Liaise with other YPFP Brussels volunteers for shared events
- Liaise with the Communications team and participate in communications efforts
- Share their own ideas and execute them professionally and proactively
- Represent YPFP in front of the general public, audiences, and YPFP members
The perfect candidate should:
- Have an advanced understanding of international relations and some experience with developing events
- Be self-motivated and well organised
- Be comfortable liaising with the public and representing the organisation
- Be able to work efficiently and follow a task autonomously from the beginning to its very end. In YPFP team, results are very important.
- Have a great sense of initiative. YPFP want your ideas!
- Be able to commit to twelve months or more as a staff volunteer
- Participate actively in the team, for example by replying to messages within a few days and by attending the regular team meetings
- Have excellent written and spoken English skills
- Live in Brussels and be available for in-person events and meetings
This is an unpaid voluntary position. The role requires a time commitment of around 2-5 hours per week, the exact amount will be determined later depending on availability.
