The Operations Coordinator Opportunity
As Operations Coordinator within the People & Culture team, you’ll play a key role in delivering a high-quality, responsive HR operations service to both managers and employees. Your responsibilities will span the full employee lifecycle, including preparing contracts and documentation, conducting reference and pre-employment checks, managing data in the HRIS system, generating reports, audit requests and delivery of monthly payrolls for International Assignees and Global Hub UK staff. You’ll support both Global Hub (UK and Worldwide) and International employees, ensuring consistency and excellence across all touchpoints.
As part of the operations team, you will be the first point of contact for a wide range of HR-related queries, providing clear guidance on policies and procedures and resolving issues promptly and accurately.
The Individual
Plan International is seeking a customer-focused, deadline-driven professional with experience in HR administration across the employee lifecycle. You’ll bring operational knowledge in areas such as UK visa processes, payroll, employee benefits, salary sacrifice, and tax. Strong numeracy, attention to detail, and analytical skills—especially in Excel—are essential.
Fluency in written and spoken English is required, along with the ability to clearly explain HR and payroll procedures. You will be adaptable, able to meet service standards, and approach challenges with creativity and collaboration.
Technical Expertise, Skills and Knowledge
Essential
- · Experience in a HR, recruitment or similar client facing
- · Good operational knowledge and experience of HR administration of the employee life cycle, Desirable – UK visa, payroll, employee benefits, salary sacrifice and tax processes
- · Ability to follow process and procedures
- · Solid experience of using a HR system
- · Ability to problem solve.
- · Some knowledge of employment legislation around areas such as right to work or parental leave (Desirable)
- · Some knowledge of data protection requirements and data privacy in the context of handling employee data
- · Fluent written and spoken English to be able to explain complex HR procedures and payroll issues. Additional languages such as French or Spanish would be advantageous.
- · Numerate with an eye for accuracy and detail
- · Strong analytical skills including using MS Excel for analysis
- · Strong team working skills, sharing information and supporting and providing cover for colleagues when required
- · Customer focused, service orientated
- · Organisational and time management skills to enable simultaneous work on a number of issues and to manage competing demands. Deadlines focussed.
- · Flexible in how they work to achieve service standards and deadlines, positive under pressure and in difficult situations
- · Aware of impact on others and adjusts behaviour accordingly
- · Actively motivates self and others to contribute to an organisational culture that promotes gender equality and cultural sensitivity

Location: Global Hub, Woking, UK. Plan International is mostly remote working, with annual team visits to the office in Woking. You must have the pre-existing right to live and work in the United Kingdom without restriction.
