Role Description
Project/Research Assistant contributes to project start-up, project activity monitoring, partnership monitoring for multiple projects. This Part-time Research Assistant position is entry-level into an INGO organization and will provide a good opportunity to better familiarize themselves with working within an international organization, whilst providing critical support services to the Project Manager and the Head of Mission.
Accountabilities
Under the supervision of Project Manager, and with the support of the Research Manager, the Project/Research Assistant will perform the below main activities:
- Support of the Research Manager in implementing the research project activities
- Assist in the collection, management, and analysis of quantitative and qualitative as stipulated in project documents, including the production of any forms and surveys
- Manage and organize project documents and data on designated platforms, ensuring compliance with ethical and safeguarding policies
- Support the monitoring of project activities across Ukraine, Poland, Moldova, and Romania, ensuring the research objectives are met according to the planned timeline
- Assist in organizing meetings, training events, and partner visits, ensuring smooth coordination among all stakeholders
- Assist in translating and contextualizing research materials and guidelines to ensure they are appropriate for use in the local context
- Preparation of official letters and communications to partners and government authorities
- Data management and organisation of Plan International’s documents on MS Teams channel
- Provide support during field visits including organising trip route and itinerary for visiting delegations.
The Part-time Research Assistant will work closely with the Research Manager for guidance and support throughout these responsibilities.
Technical expertise, skills and knowledge
Essential Knowledge
- University degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, psychology, international relations, or related disciplines.
- Good knowledge and understanding of humanitarian principles and the impact of armed conflict on affected populations, with a particular focus on mental health and gender dynamics
- Understanding of the mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) needs in conflict settings
- Experience in implementing projects related to mental health, education, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), child protection, cash and voucher assistance, gender, and participatory approaches is an advantage.
Essential Skills
- Strong research skills, including data collection, management, and analysis
- Ability to synthesize research findings into clear, actionable reports and recommendations
- Strong strategic decision-making and communication skills including reporting and presentation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, proficiency in Ukrainian and/or Russian is optional but considered an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability of teamwork, coordination, and planning
- Knowledge of usual office software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and regular
communication channels (Teams, email, Skype).
