The Opportunity

This is an exciting moment to join Plan International. With a new CEO taking the helm, the Senior Writer role offers a unique opportunity to shape high-impact executive communications and play a key role in supporting the positioning of the organisation and our leadership at a critical time. In this role as the Senior Writer, CEO Communications you will provide strategic support to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) by developing and coordinating executive communications and CEO engagements, with a strong emphasis on speechwriting, op-eds, supporting thought leadership, and coordinating the CEO’s external communications preparations. Your focus will be on high-impact, written content, aligning with broader communications efforts, including digital and social media, to amplify Plan’s global messaging.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in C-suite communications—particularly speechwriting and thought leadership—within the INGO sector or a similarly complex, global environment. This role requires exceptional editing skills, strong cross-functional coordination, and the ability to position senior leaders effectively in external forums. A deep understanding of stakeholder management, geopolitical trends, and organisational messaging is essential. Please respond to the requirements of the role in your cover letter. Qualifications and Experience

Excellent written communication and advanced editing skills, ensuring clarity and impact in all CEO communications.

Experience in C-suite communications, including speechwriting, support for thought leadership output product, and strategic messaging.

Experience from the INGO sector in similar or other capacity.

Strong experience in cross-functional coordination and leadership engagement, supporting organisational messaging.

Experience of developing external engagement messaging, with an understanding of positioning senior leaders in external forums.

Experience working in a global, complex organizational environment, with a strong understanding of stakeholder management.

Knowledge of geopolitical and sector trends, with the ability to provide informed insights for external engagements.

Ability to incorporate feedback and make corrections based on input from colleagues and key stakeholders.

Location: The location of this role can be flexible, where Plan International has an office* that can employ on behalf of the Global Hub and you have the pre-existing right to work and live. Preferably in a central time-zone. Plan International is mostly remote working with occasional visits to the office required depending on where you are based.
