Internship Assignment
The Procurement Internship will provide operational and administrative support to the Department of Corporate Services (DCS) – Procurement Unit. The Procurement Intern will have the opportunity to learn and expand her/his experiences by providing assistance in the daily operation of the procurement activities.
Under the overall guidance of the Procurement Specialist within the DCS – Procurement, the Intern is expected to:
- Review procurement requests to ensure appropriateness of technical specifications and seek clarifications.
- Assist with research for price comparison and new sources of supply or service providers.
- Provide support to preparation of a variety of procurement-related documents, contracts, communications, instructions, reports, etc.
- Assist preparation of tender documents and support all aspects of bid/proposal evaluations .
- Support preparation of various procurement-related reports.
- Ensure the procurement processes are in compliance with the procurement guidelines.
- Ensure that all procurement documents are filed and records are up to date.
Requirements and qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Master’s or PhD program in business administration, law, procurement, or related fields;
- Knowledge and experience with any procurement related activities will be an asset;
- Good understanding and experience in operations of international organizations is an added advantage;
- Proficiency in using standard software programs: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access;
- Excellent writing and presentation skills;
- Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of another United Nations languages an advantage.
