The Transformative Education Advocacy and Campaigns Advisor Role

Oxfam in Africa (OiA) is looking for an inspiring Transformative Education Advocacy and Campaigns Advisor to lead and support advocacy and campaigns on education justice across the continent. This is a pivotal role to drive systemic change in education by shaping strategic narratives, building strong coalitions, and amplifying community voices at national, regional, and global levels. The Transformative Education Advocacy and Campaigns Advisor will provide policy leadership, promote thought innovation, and ensure alignment between country-level advocacy and Oxfam’s global campaigns on transformative education.

Key themes include gender-transformative education, education in crisis contexts, climate education, financing, and system strengthening.  

What Oxfam is looking for

Oxfam is looking for a passionate and strategic professional who combines strong academic grounding in Social Sciences, Education, or a related discipline with meaningful, hands-on experience gained through impactful work. You will bring a demonstrated ability to design and deliver influential policy advocacy and campaigns across multiple countries or regions, with the versatility to engage effectively in both high-profile public arenas and discreet, behind-the-scenes policy influencing.

You’ll bring exceptional communication and representation skills, allowing you to engage credibility and with influence across diverse stakeholders in multicultural and politically complex environments. With strong connections across Africa’s advocacy, education, and development sectors, you are comfortable building alliances and mobilizing networks to drive change.

Your work is underpinned by a deep understanding of transformative education, human rights, and gender justice in the African context, alongside fluency in written and spoken English; additional language skills, particularly French, are a strong advantage. At the core of your approach is a genuine commitment to feminist principles, anti-oppression practice, and safeguarding, which you consistently apply in your leadership, decision-making, and everyday professional conduct.
