Purpose of the Consultant Assignment
The Consultant Programme Policy will be part of the DED&COO Front Office team providing strategic executive support to the DED&COO. Responsibilities include executive speechwriting, information analysis and research, communications, meeting preparations and support including follow ups, performance planning and reporting exercises, working closely with other Front Offices, across departments, divisions and teams. The Consultant Programme Policy will proactively identify relevant communications needed, advise senior management on appropriate ways to address them and facilitate a wide range of communication activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead in preparation of DED&COO statements and overall speechwriting, as well as the development of briefing materials and presentations.
- Support strategic planning and coordinate internal and external communications including formulating media messages, and apply knowledge management practices to efficiently organize, share, and use information within the team and relevant stakeholders.
- Develop, maintain and update an appropriate work plan to help DED&COO maintain and enhance the visibility and reputation of WFP, and support fundraising activities, ensuring alignment with WFP strategy.
- Prepare communications products that effectively convey the desired message to targeted audience(s).
- Plan and deliver internal communications so employees understand the DED&COO Office’s strategy and contribution towards meeting the Office’s objectives.
- Coordinate and prepare accurate and timely reporting on communications activities that enable informed decision-making, evaluation of objectives and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
- Research, analyze and manage information to support executive-level engagements as required.
- Contribute to the management of corporate priorities and processes including activities related to resources-to-result and performance reporting, in collaboration and close coordination with other team members and stakeholders.
- Meet tight deadlines and work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism.

- Strong organizational awareness and capacity to navigate complex institutional environments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under pressure.
- Excellent analytical, planning, and coordination skills.
- Sound judgment, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality.
- Proficiency in information management and use of relevant corporate technologies.
- Significant experience in executive support, strategic communications, or a similar role.
- Proven track record in speechwriting, planning, and stakeholder coordination.
Deliverables:
Timely support to the DED&COO strategic internal and external engagements; effective information management; and relevant corporate processes.
Qualifications and Experience Required
Education:
University degree in International Relations, Political Science, Conflict Analysis, Information Management, Journalism, Data Science or other relevant fields.
Experience:
Between 6 and 10 years of postgraduate related professional work experience.
Knowledge & Skills:
Ability to meet the deadlines and work under pressure as part of a team; strong written and visual communication skills; excellent analytical skills; ability to learn quickly; experience with MS Office and Adobe Creative Suites. Strong knowledge of social media platforms, including analytics. Ability to keep abreast of latest trends in communication methods. Knowledge of WFP’s and wider UN’s communication methods. Ability to work independently and in a team.
Languages:
Fluent in English, with excellent writing skills, and working knowledge. Good working knowledge (level B) of a second UN language, preferably Arabic, French, or Spanish.
