Hennge Global Internship Program on Software Engineering – Highly Rewarding

HENNGE’s Global Internship Program (GIP) is an on-site software engineering training program at Hennge headquarters in Tokyo. Designed for students and early-career engineers, this is your chance to strengthen your skills in a global, English-speaking environment — no Japanese required.

You can choose the path that fits your goals: Front-End Pathway focuses on TypeScript and modern frameworks like React or Vue, while Full-Stack Pathway covers back-end, front-end, and basic DevOps using Python, Go, or TypeScript. Rather than production work, Hennge emphasizes your growth in fundamental engineering, problem-solving, and collaboration through direct mentorship and hands-on training with AWS.

The program runs for 4–6 weeks, Monday to Friday (10 AM – 7 PM JST). You’ll work alongside Hennge entire engineering team, communicating daily with mentors and peers. While the program is unpaid, the company provides comprehensive subsidies, and outstanding participants may be offered full-time employment opportunities.

Choose Your Path

  • All applicants are required to choose at least one pathway, and each pathway has a different internship schedule. Please refer to the internship schedule for reference.
  • If you are interested in applying for both pathways, please submit separate applications using different email address for the coding challenge.
  • Once enrolled in the program, interns cannot change pathways midway.

There are two pathways and each candidate can choose one: Full-Stack Pathway or Front-End Pathway.

Full-Stack Pathway

  • Build and connect full-stack applications by designing back-end APIs and front-end interfaces with a focus on core concepts like security, state management, and testing across the entire cloud-integrated stack.
  • Refine your engineering approach by navigating Unix-like environments and DevOps tooling, while using mentor feedback to iteratively improve your technical decisions, trade-offs, and problem-solving skills.
  • Internship Flow:
    • Weeks 1-3: Full-Stack Application Development Project
    • Week 4: DevOps & Infrastructure Project
    • Weeks 5-6 (conditional): Special Assignment – a unique project for each intern and specific to their batch.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Third-year undergraduate or higher (including Master’s and Doctoral students). Recent graduates are welcome to apply
  • Pursuing or holding a degree in Computer Science or a related field. If not, equivalent experience from a tech internship or bootcamp is expected
  • Fluency in English (Japanese is not required)
  • Proficiency in Python, Go, or React/Vue in TypeScript
  • Knowledge of Linux / MacOS / Unix-like environments
  • Interested in open source or tech community activities
  • Interested in pursuing a career in Japan

At least meet three of the following:

  • Experience in cloud computing platforms, especially AWS
  • Experience in full stack web application development
  • Knowledge of distributed systems
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools and practices (CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code)
  • Knowledge of Container technology (e.g. Docker)

Ideal Candidate

The ideal full stack engineering intern is a curious problem-solver who’s excited to build real-world applications and grow in a fast-paced tech environment. Hennge is especially interested in candidates who:

  • Are proficient in Python, Go, and React/Vue in TypeScript and comfortable working in Unix-like environments
  • Have a solid grasp of both front-end and back-end development
  • Have an interest in cloud computing and DevOps practices
  • Are passionate about learning, contributing to tech communities, and possibly pursuing a career in Japan

Please note that this program is part of the pre-hiring process; those interested in seeking a career in Japan may have a significant advantage.

Assignment Details

As an intern, you will get hands-on experience in full stack web application development and how to deploy them to AWS. Working hours will be 10:00 – 19:00 JST; please make sure that there will be no conflict in schedules with your studies or other activities.
