Overview
Applications are now open for the inaugural edition of GreenUp Morocco 2025, a pioneering incubation programme aimed at accelerating the growth of early-stage startups and entrepreneurs driving innovation in renewable energy and sustainable development.
More than just a programme, the initiative serves as a launchpad for Morocco’s next generation of changemaker, by connecting participants with expert mentorship, strategic resources, and a dynamic innovation ecosystem, the programme helps transform promising ideas into scalable, real-world solutions.
Launched by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development and RES4Africa Foundation, in partnership with University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P) and with contributions from Enel Foundation, this initiative supports the development and scaling of renewable energy-focused businesses within the Moroccan startup ecosystem. The programme is open to both aspiring and established entrepreneurs with innovative business ideas or ongoing projects in the enenrgy transition and sustainability sectors.
Up to ten startups or entrepreneurial teams will be selected to join a comprehensive incubation journey hosted at UM6P’s innovation campus in Ben Guerir. Participants will engage in expert-led workshops, peer learning sessions, and community-building activities. They will receive structured mentoring, personalized coaching, and access to a pool of specialized experts covering business development, legal and regulatory frameworks, circular economy, digitalisation, and fundraising.
The programme also provides access to high-value resources, including premium coworking spaces, Fablab facilities, and Living Labs at UM6P. These facilities are ideal for prototyping, testing, and validating innovative solutions. In the final stage, participants will attend intensive bootcamps focused on investment readiness and market access, culminating in a high-profile Demo Day where they will pitch to investors, industry leaders, and ecosystem stakeholders.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, applicants must be between 18 and 39 years old. The proposed solution must target the Moroccan market, and the startup must either be registered in Morocco or be willing to register there. The entrepreneur must reside or study in Morocco, or the startup must already be registered in the country. Applicants must have working knowledge of both English and French.
Eligible sectors include renewable energy and sustainable development, with a focus on green technology, manufacturing, digitalisation, circular economy, storage, mobility, clean cooking, new business models, and the Water-Energy-Food Nexus.
Applicants must demonstrate a working prototype and a clear understanding of the problem they aim to solve. Evaluation will consider the innovation of the solution, financial feasibility, market potential, scalability, and the entrepreneur’s commitment and readiness to engage in mentoring and coaching activities.
GreenUp Morocco welcomes applications from both individuals and entrepreneurial teams. Group applications are eligible, provided all members are clearly identified. Each applicant may submit only one application, either individually or as part of a group.
