GIZ is recruiting for a Climate Finance Intern (€2,205.04 monthly stipend): Apply Now
Overview
A better life for everyone and meaningful work for its employees – that’s GIZ model for success. For more than 50 years, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), a German Federal Government company, has been supporting the global implementation of development policy goals. Together with partner organizations in 120 countries, GIZ is involved in a wide variety of projects. If you want to make a difference in the world and develop yourself in the process, you’ve come to the right place.
Area of activity
The project “Transformative Climate Finance – Shifting Financial Flows and Private Sector Mobilisation” in the Socio-Ecological Economic Transformation and Financial Systems Development cluster advises the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) on climate finance issues, particularly on mobilizing private capital to achieve international climate goals. In this context, the promotion of sustainable finance plays a particularly relevant role in the project. The project also includes technical and strategic advice to the Federal Foreign Office (AA) on climate finance issues, particularly as a bridge-builder between UNFCCC negotiation processes and concrete measures in partner countries.
It thus contributes to the operationalization of Article 2.1c and the $100 billion target (Article 9) of the Paris Agreement (PA). In addition to providing technical and strategic advice to the Federal Ministry for Education, Research and Culture (BMK) and the Federal Foreign Office (AA) at the German, EU, and international levels, the project is developing pilot activities in partner countries (e.g., Vietnam and Colombia) to strengthen the position of private capital in the UN climate negotiations. To achieve this goal, the project collaborates with partner countries, international organizations, scientific institutes, and networks of public and private stakeholders.
