Programme Details

The Global Youth Climate Training returns this September: four expert-led sessions on geopolitics and climate governance, the energy transition and loss & damage, education, ACE, and disability inclusion, and climate finance & adaptation — plus a YNA negotiators-led track for 20 selected participants, culminating in a COP simulation. 500 spots. Fully online. Free. Certificate upon completion. Sessions run from, September 2nd to 22nd, in English with Spanish live interpretation available in addition to potential for other languages and closed captioning. Applications close August 10.

Global Youth Climate Training Programme 2026 Overview

The Global Youth Climate Training Programme (GYCT) is a free, fully online capacity-development programme for people aged 16–35 who want to strengthen their understanding of international climate policy and practical climate advocacy.

The 2026 programme will include 4 main expert-led sessions set to run from 2 September to 22 September 2026. In addition to a separate 3 session pathway delivered by GYC and YNA negotiators alumni for 20 select participants set to run between Sept 29 and Oct 13. 

The four main sessions will be delivered in English and will have closed captions and some additional language live interpretation, including Spanish. These sessions will be online and will be recorded for public release. The three additional sessions will be online and delivered in English with closed captions but no live interpretation, and will not be recorded.  

How To Apply

Applications close on 10 August 2026 at 23:59 BST.

You must answer briefly and accurately. Most questions are structured so that applications can be screened fairly and efficiently. Short written answers are only used where necessary.

GYCT participants will have the opportunity to apply to stay at the GYC House in Antalya for COP31

Additional bursary or participation-support opportunities may be announced separately, subject to funding. Applying to or participating in the programme does not guarantee financial support.

Please note: To continue offering the Global Youth Climate Training Programme free of charge, the Global Youth Coalition rely on the generosity of our community and supporters. Due to funding constraints, this year’s programme includes fewer sessions and language interpretation options than in previous years.
