Transparency International is currently seeking a Media and Communications Manager to lead its press office and shape its organisational media strategy.

This role would suit someone with a background in strategic communications, who is a brilliant writer with excellent news judgment and a highly collaborative approach to working across a global movement.

Media and Communications Manager

Transparency International is recruiting for a Media and Communications Manager (m/f/d) to join its Communications team and lead the organisationโ€™s press office function. The role combines developing strategy with handsโ€‘on delivery, supporting Transparency Internationalโ€™s influencing priorities and boosting its reputation in a complex global media environment.ย 

This role also line manages Communications and Media Specialists, supporting their development and dayโ€‘toโ€‘day work, and working closely with them to deliver joinedโ€‘up media and communications activity that strengthens influencing campaigns and builds public engagement. 

The Manager works closely with the Head of Communications and with colleagues across the organisation, ensuring high standards, political sensitivity and consistency across media outputs. This role would suit an experienced media and communications professional with at least seven years of relevant experience, who is motivated to use their expertise to strengthen Transparency Internationalโ€™s influencing work and help drive positive change.

Overview of key dimensions

  • Role Purpose:ย The Manager (m/f/d) provides expert advice on organisational media strategy, leads the press office function and line manages Communications and Media Specialists to deliver highโ€‘quality media andย communications activity in support of Transparency Internationalโ€™s brand, influencing and engagement goals.
  • Team: Communications.
  • Reporting Line: Head of Communications.
  • Starting Date:ย November 2026.
  • Contract Duration: Transparency International offers an initial fixed-term contract of two years. There is a prospect of extension subject to organisational need, performance and funding.
  • Salary Band:ย According to TIโ€‘S internal salary structure; this position is aligned with band PF3, with a salary range of EUR 55.600โ€“75.000 gross per year. Final salary placement will beโ€ฏdeterminedโ€ฏbased on theโ€ฏnumberโ€ฏof years of relevant professional experience.ย 
  • Working Hours: full time [100%; 40 hours per week]ย 

Main Accountabilities of the role

As part of the Communications Team and reporting to the Head of Communications, the Manager will:ย 

  • Lead the press office function, overseeing planning, workflows, processes and tools to ensure consistent, highโ€‘quality media engagement and outputsย 
  • Design and deliver an insightsโ€‘led media strategy in support of organisational brand, influencing and engagement goals, aligned with wider communications objectivesย 
  • Provide line management to Communications and Media Specialists, including workload planning, coaching, performance management and professional developmentย 
  • Lead media responses to manage organisational reputation, including assessing risk, advising on approach, developing reactive lines and delivering crisis communicationsย 
  • Advise programme and advocacy colleagues on media approaches, and design and deliver strategic media activity to support campaigns, thought leadership and key research outputs (e.g. the Corruption Perceptions Index)ย 
  • Collaborate with chapters across the Transparency International movement, advising on media responses to emerging threats and reputational risks and identifying opportunities for collective impactย 
  • Be responsible for media monitoring, analysis and reporting, using insights to inform strategy and decisionโ€‘makingย 
  • Keep abreast of the global media landscape, identifying proactive and reactive opportunities to position Transparency International effectivelyย 
  • Design and deliver media training and guidance, supporting spokespeople to prepare for interviews and providing constructive feedbackย 
  • Contribute to the effective functioning of the Communications team, including supporting planning, coordination and deputising for the Head of Communications as requiredย 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

In order to succeed in this role, candidates will ideally bring: 

  • At least seven years of progressively responsible experience in media and/or strategic communications, including developing organisational media strategies and managing reputationย 
  • Practical experience managing a press office function, including overseeing workflows, processes, monitoring and reporting, and working with media tools and suppliersย 
  • Experience line managing or providing structured guidance and oversight to communications professionalsย 
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English, to native speaker level, with the ability to translate complex issues into clear and compelling media narrativesย 
  • Excellent news judgement and knowledge of global and regional media landscapes and relevant press contactsย 
  • Experience advising on reputation management and crisis communicationsย 
  • Experience designing and delivering media training and supporting spokespeopleย 
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a fastโ€‘paced environmentย 
  • Political awareness, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work diplomatically and sensitively in an international contextย
