As the new intern, you will support the Business Data & Analytics team within the Strategic Business Modernization (SBM) unit. The team develops data products, provides analytical insights, and drives improvement projects that strengthen and advance data-driven decision making in the center.
How can you make a difference?
Under the overall supervision and guidance of the Strategic Business Modernization section, the Business Data & Analytics Management Intern will perform data analysis tasks such as data discovery, modeling, cleaning, metadata development, dashboard preparation, and report creation, as well as other data-focused improvements. The Business Data & Analytics Management Intern will also support the coordination of data-related activities.
This may involve
- Work with diverse datasets of varying complexity to design and conduct analyses.
- Apply and experiment with data cleaning, preparation, and analytical techniques to generate solutions that answer business questions.
- Translate business needs into data requirements and develop data-driven solutions.
- Develop dashboards and other data visualization tools to support decision-making.
- Document methodologies and process steps; prepare clear, well-structured deliverables for dissemination (e.g., presentations, briefs, reports).
- Contribute to specific tasks within data projects, collaborating closely with the team.
- Provide additional support on data-related activities as required.
Minimum requirements:
The incumbent should:
- Be currently enrolled in a degree programme with data analytics profile, preferably in Economics, Sociology, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or other related area, or be a recent graduate (within the past two years).
- Fluency in English required. Knowledge of one other UN working language is an advantage
- Eligible applicants must be nationals of EU countries or hold a valid work permit for Hungary.
Required competencies
- Analytical – Knowledge of methods and tools used for statistical analysis is a strong asset.
- Technical – Very good analytical skills and ability to synthesize concepts and material into clear and concise thoughts.
- Technical – Experience with and curiosity about database tables, data definitions, SQL, and Power BI.
- Communication – Effectively presents thoughts and ideas including complex technical concepts, in a clear, concise, and readily understood manner, both verbally and in writing. Listens to and acknowledges others’ perspectives and views.
- Flexibility – Works effectively on multiple assignments simultaneously and adapts to changing demands and circumstances.
- Deep curiosity about what data can reveal.
- Traits of professional skepticism.
- Ability to work independently.
Contract duration and terms
- This contract is for a 3-month duration, a minimum of 3 days in the office, 2 days remote per week
- The intern is expected to be in the office when needed for specific activities
- The anticipated start date of this internship: as soon as possible
- This internship is paid with a stipend of net HUF 2360 / hour capped at net HUF 405,941 per month.
- Individuals must fund their travel and living expenses
- Individuals must have proof of medical insurance covering their time at the duty station
- Individuals are personally responsible for obtaining any required visa or residence permit, covering the entire period of their UNICEF internship
- Interns may take up to 2.5 days per month off work for any reason, including for medical reasons. The stipend will be reduced for any absence beyond this quota
