Social Media and Graphic Design Intern at the Agency for Business & Development
The Agency for Business and Development (AWE) is the central point of contact for business development cooperation. With its network of internationally experienced experts, the AWE offers advice on cooperation opportunities, funding, financing, and project development, and establishes contacts worldwide.
Commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), it contributes to mobilizing private investment and expertise for social and environmental transformation in developing and emerging countries through information and advisory services as well as networking. The AWE is jointly operated by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) GmbH and DEG Impulse gGmbH, a subsidiary of DEG – Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (German Investment and Development Corporation).
Your tasks
As part of the GIZ internship, the Social Media and Graphic Design Intern will have the following tasks:
- Participation in the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of social media measures and communication campaigns.
- Support in the conception and creation of creative social media content – texts, graphics, carousels, short videos and reels.
- Support in managing AWE’s social media channels (LinkedIn and Instagram) as well as support in community management.
- Monitoring current social media trends and contributing to the further development of the content strategy.
- Support with the graphic design of content for social media as well as presentations and print media.
- Collaboration with external service providers
Your profile
- Completed undergraduate studies in the fields of communication science / public relations, graphic design, political science, economics or a comparable subject area
- Strong affinity for economic and development policy issues, as well as initial experience in creating social media content.
- Enthusiasm for social media, digital trends and storytelling, as well as a feel for target group-oriented communication.
- Proficient in using graphic design software (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, or Illustrator); experience with video content is an advantage.
- Creativity, conceptual and analytical thinking with quick comprehension;
structured, reliable and independent work style, as well as high quality standards for one’s own work results. - Excellent German and English skills

The GIZ internship is only possible if you are currently enrolled at a university, are participating in a further education program that includes an internship as an integral part of your studies, or if your degree was awarded no more than 6 months prior to the start of the internship.
The monthly intern salary is €2,349 (gross).
