Area of activity
GIZ, as a service provider for international cooperation for sustainable development and international education, is committed worldwide to a future worth living in. The task of corporate communications is to effectively communicate GIZ, as a federal enterprise, its core themes and messages, its services and impact, as well as its principles and values, both internally and externally. The Internal Communications and Consulting group implements information and dialogue initiatives from the Executive Board, informs employees and managers about company-relevant topics, and fosters identification with GIZ. Furthermore, it supports colleagues with communication-related matters and provides consulting, networking, and training for communications professionals worldwide.
Your tasks
The Intern in Internal Communications will:
- Support with research, editing and coordination of internal news, short reports and (video) contributions on the diverse topics of GIZ.
- Updating, maintaining and expanding the Integrated Digital Applications (IDA) as the GIZ’s social intranet
- Assistance with the conception, further development and implementation of dialogue formats and events between the board, managers and employees.
- Supporting community management for the online community of GIZ communicators: monitoring new posts, answering inquiries, writing own posts
- Assistance in the consulting portal, the company-wide portal for all questions relating to communication (for example, corporate design, video production or publications): answering inquiries, statistical evaluation and preparation of the results
- Organization of the regularly held, staff-wide, digital
- Exchange format “Speed Academy”: Topic selection, time planning, moderation, and documentation.
Your profile
To participate in the GIZ internship you:
- You have a degree in media/communication studies, journalism or a comparable field of study with completed basic studies.
- They have strong linguistic skills and initial editorial experience in various media formats – from conception to product.
- They have a digital mindset and knowledge of common formats.
- Applications and apps for digital communication
- Experience in event management is an advantage.
- You are characterized by an efficient work style and enjoy taking on responsibility and working in a team. Furthermore, you are enthusiastic about international cooperation, have an interest in the content and methods of corporate communications, and are familiar with the requirements for employee communication formats.
- You have knowledge of Microsoft 365 (especially Teams, SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and – if possible – of video and image editing with graphics programs (e.g. Adobe Creative Cloud with Photoshop and Premiere Pro).
- You speak German at a native speaker level and you have very good English skills.

The paid internship at GIZ is only possible if you are currently enrolled at a university, are participating in a further education program that includes an internship as an integral part of your studies, or if your degree was awarded no more than 6 months prior to the start of the GIZ internship.
The monthly intern salary is €2,349 (gross).
