Exciting Opportunity: Open call for members of the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change for 2026–2030 term

Are you interested in helping shape Europe’s path to climate neutrality? The European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change provides independent, science-based advice to EU policymakers and plays a central role in evaluating climate policies and identifying actions needed to meet the EU’s climate targets.

Overview

Persons interested in becoming members of the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change are invited to express their interest in accordance with the guidelines set out below. Apply by 15 September 2025.

The European Environment Agency (EEA) has launched a call for expressions of interest to join the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change for its second term, covering the period 2026 to 2030. For those ready to contribute to shaping Europe’s path to climate neutrality, this is a unique opportunity to help inform high-level policy decisions with independent, science-based advice.

The Advisory Board is an independent body providing the European Union (EU) with scientific knowledge, expertise and advice relating to climate change. The Advisory Board evaluates policies and identifies actions and opportunities to successfully achieve the EU’s climate targets. It was established in 2021 by the European Climate Law and consists of 15 independent senior scientific experts covering a broad range of relevant disciplines.

Scientists and professionals with at least 10 years of experience in climate or environmental sciences – and a PhD or equivalent qualification – are invited to apply. Candidates will be assessed on their scientific excellence and ability to work in interdisciplinary, international settings. Gender and geographical balance will also be considered in the selection process.

Full details, including eligibility criteria and application instructions, are available on the EEA website.
