Exciting Master Thesis Opportunity: Join the Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS) as a Student Assistant
For the activities of the Horizon Europe project NBS4Drought (https://nbs4drought.eu/), the
Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS) is looking for two Master’s students to conduct
their thesis within the project to start as soon as possible as Student Assistant (m/f/d)
Overview
At GERICS, around 80 scientists work on challenges related to climate change across different
sectors developing science-based prototype products and services to support decision-makers
from politics, business, and society in adapting to climate change.
Within the Horizon Europe project NBS4Drought, GERICS offer the opportunity for two Master’s
students to conduct their thesis within the project. NBS4Drought focuses on demonstrating the
role of wetlands as Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) to enhance resilience to extreme drought
across European cities and landscapes. Case studies are located in Poland, Denmark, Spain
and Germany.
GERICS offer an exciting working environment at the interface between science and society, flexible
working hours, and a workplace at GERICS (Fischertwiete 1, 20095 Hamburg). As part of your
role, you will be integrated into the GERICS team and will have the opportunity to contribute to
scientific publications.
Your profile:
- Master’s student in environmental sciences, sustainability science, geography, environmental governance, political ecology, water management, or a related field
- Strong interest in drought risk, resilience and Nature-Based Solutions
- Willingness to conduct fieldwork within Europe
- Experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research methods, or interest to learn
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); Polish or Danish language skills are considered an advantage
- Based in Hamburg
