Exciting Call for proposals to host the Climate Technology Centre secretariat: Submit now!
Developing and transferring climate technologies enables bold climate action around the globe.
The Climate Technology Centre under the UNFCCC Technology Mechanism supports countries to move climate technologies from planning to implementation, including renewable energy deployment, climate-resilient agriculture, early warning systems, and low-emission solutions across energy, transport and industry.
UN Climate Change now invites interested organizations or groups of organizations to a unique opportunity to host the secretariat of the Climate Technology Centre – and drive climate technology solutions for the next generation of climate action.
Call for proposals to host the Climate Technology Centre secretariat
This call offers a unique opportunity to host a flagship institution driving climate technology solutions for the next generation of climate action.
The Climate Technology Centre, together with the Network (CTCN), supports developing countries in accelerating the development and transfer of climate technologies. It responds directly to requests from countries to identify, adapt and deploy technologies that support both mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions and adaptation to climate change.
It provides technical assistance, strengthens national innovation systems, facilitates collaboration between public and private actors, and connects countries with a global network of technology experts, institutions and practitioners. Its revised functions, adopted by COP 30 and CMA 7, reflect growing demand for integrated, scalable and country-driven technology solutions aligned with long-term climate goals.
Why this opportunity matters
Hosting the CTC secretariat represents a strategic opportunity to make a significant contribution to climate technology cooperation under the UNFCCC.
The Centre will work closely with Parties, UN entities, financial institutions, research organizations, the private sector and civil society to support implementation of technology priorities, including those identified through the technology needs assessment, in the nationally determined contributions (NDCs), the national adaptation plans and long-term low-emission development strategies.
The mandate of the Climate Technology Centre is extended until 2041, with an initial five-year term and the possibility of two renewals, subject to independent performance reviews. This provides long-term institutional stability and the chance to build sustained impact.
