Call for Applications: Youth Climate Changemakers Fund (grants of up to €38,000 for youth organisations working on climate justice awarded)

Generation Climate Europe is excited to announce the launch of the Youth Climate Changemakers Fund!

Young people are driving much of today’s climate justice work, but many youth-led organisations are still operating without the resources, training, or networks they need to grow. At the same time, numerous groups are working on social issues that could be connected to climate justice, but haven’t had the opportunity or support to do so yet.

That’s where the Youth Climate Changemakers Fund comes in. Generation Climate Europe is offering grants of up to €38,000 for youth organisations working on climate justice or are looking to connect their existing work to climate for the first time. Generation Climate Europe is especially keen to support organisations outside the usual climate bubbles.

And the fund goes far beyond financial support. Selected groups will also gain access to:

  • Project management and organisational development training
  • Campaigning and advocacy skills
  • Communication and mobilisation tools
  • Networking opportunities
  • Visibility within one of Europe’s largest climate communities

This is one of five funds piloted by Funding Fairer Futures, an initiative supporting civil society organisations and groups building inclusive and just climate solutions in Europe and beyond.

Funding Fairer Futures: calls for proposals open now!

Funding Fairer Futures is a new initiative dedicated to strengthening the climate movement and transforming it into one that is truly inclusive—enabling everyone, including those in marginalised communities, to actively participate in and shape climate action. Funding Fairer Futures has built a coalition with Climate Action Network, WECF, Christian Blind Mission Ireland and ECOLISE to build community power and challenge those in positions of influence to act with equity and accountability.

The Youth Climate Changemakers Fund – Europe’s largest fund for youth organisations and informal groups  – provides financial support and training to build an inclusive climate movement especially focusing on engaging the actors from outside the obvious spaces as well as building bridges between climate justice and other priority issues for youth.

As part of the Fund, youth organisations can apply for grants of between €1,000 and €38,000 to carry out projects that will contribute to strengthening the climate movement. Even if you have an informal group, you can apply for up to €1,000.

Key focus

Funding Fairer Futures has the funding to support both established youth organisations and informal groups located in the 27 EU member states. Its main priorities are:

  • Strengthening the youth climate movement. Funding Fairer Futures want to use the Changemakers Fund to bring much needed financial, training and networking support to the youth climate movement.
  • To engage and reach new audiences. The climate movement has a diversity problem and Funding Fairer Futures want to use the Fund to redress that imbalance. Funding Fairer Futures is interested in supporting individuals not traditionally engaged in the climate movement. You don’t have to be an environmental or climate organisation! Funding Fairer Futures wants to hear from organisations who are new to the topic as well.
  • To create a legacy. Funding Fairer Futures wants to hear about how its investment in you will contribute to your future growth and impact on the climate movement in the future.
  • For you to join its community. Being part of Funding Fairer Futures is more than just receiving financial support and training– its strength comes from working together.
  • Funding Fairer Futures want to support projects that will amplify the Funding Fairer Futures campaign. Alongside its coalition partners Funding Fairer Futures want to work towards a common goal and is interested in hearing from you how your project will contribute to the efforts for a just transition.
