Introduction to the project
Women in Sustainable Energy and Entrepreneurship (WISEe) Cooperative society in collaboration with Winrock International through the program ‘Accelerating Women’s Empowerment in Energy (AWEE)’ is opening applications for the selection of women to undergo free training in Solar PV and solar water pumping.
The Accelerating Women’s Empowerment in Energy (AWEE) program funded by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Energy Resources (ENR) and implemented by Winrock International seeks to support the empowerment and professional development of women currently working or seeking to work in the clean energy sectors to overcome historic gender-based marginalization, address the barriers to women’s entry, promotion, and retention, and increase women’s participation in the clean energy workforce in Kenya and South Africa. The project targets recent graduates in the technical field looking to join Kenya’s clean energy sector and will provide entry-level linkages in reputable Kenyan companies.
Objectives of the project
The project aims to close technical knowledge and skills gaps for female technicians in Kenya by providing them with practical, solar industry-relevant training. After the training, participants will be linked with companies in the renewable energy sector for internships or entry-level placement positions. The training will be in Nairobi. Transport within Nairobi to the training venue will be facilitated for the training days.
Target audience
The call is aimed at recent university and TVET graduates in the engineering field and are interested in SOLAR TRAINING INSTALLATION CONSULTACY EMPOWERMENT ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Selection Criteria
- Applicants must have completed high school and tertiary education (Attach relevant certificates in theapplication)
- Applicants must be available for the 2 days training
- Applicants must be available for three-month entry-level placement or internship in renewable energy companies in Kenya.
