SEforALL is currently accepting applications for the Energy Heroes Awards that recognize energy champions across the world.
The awards celebrate and recognize changemakers and innovators working to provide clean and sustainable energy while scaling and advancing the energy transition in developing countries.
Overview
With just five years remaining to achieve the 2030 global goal of Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), 2025 is a pivotal year. To drive ambition and raise awareness, the first Awards will be announced at SEforALL’s Global Energy Forum in Bridgetown, Barbados. The awards celebrate and recognize institutions and innovators impacting at the local and national levels through provision of clean and sustainable energy, improved efficiency measures, and resources to scale and advance the energy transition in developing countries.

Who is eligible?
The Energy Heroes Awards recognize energy champions working in one or all of these four global regions: Africa, Asia- Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean and the Middle East and North Africa. The awards also recognize winners in two categories – Changemakers and Innovators.
Changemakers are institutions such as funders, multilateral development agencies, private corporations, civil society and academic institutions that are at the forefront of providing the necessary funding, technical capacity and technologies to accelerate the transition through initiatives or projects that achieve one or more of the following: increase the use of renewable energy solutions or energy efficiency measures, bridge the energy access gap, promote inclusion in the energy sector, contribute to significantly lowering CO2 emissions, or advance climate resilience and adaptation efforts.
Innovators are defined as individuals, private sector companies, civil society organisations or NGOs working on the frontlines of the transition and positively impacting at the community and/or country level to accelerate the transition, increase the use of renewable energy solutions or energy efficiency measures, build green skills capacity, promote inclusion in the energy sector or advance climate resilience and adaptation efforts.
