Overview

UNESCO is inviting passionate youth leaders to join the Youth Climate Action Network (YoU-CAN) as Steering Committee Members and help shape global youth-led climate initiatives.

Steering Committee of the UNESCO Youth Climate Action Network (YoU-CAN)

This call for applications is addressed to youth-led organizations and networks active in the field of climate change (based in UNESCO Member States or Associate Members), to become network representatives of the UNESCO Youth Climate Action Network (YoU-CAN) Steering Committee.

The YoU-CAN Steering Committee is composed of 15 members in total. Through this Call, 8 positions are to be filled for 2 years (2026-2027), in line with the Terms of Reference and the application procedure described below.

Main Coordinator / Deputy Coordinator: The coordinator and the deputy lead YoU-CAN’s overall progress. They act as the main focal points for YoU-CAN Steering Committee including liaising with UNESCO Secretariat.
Thematic Coordinators: Sciences Coordinator, Education Coordinator, Culture Coordinator, Information Coordinator. The thematic Coordinators act as facilitators between the Steering Committee and UNESCO Secretariat when developing and implementing YoU-CAN activities, and report to the Steering Committee on YoU-CAN activities implementation.
Regional Coordinators:Latin America & Caribbean Coordinator, Asia and the Pacific Coordinator, Europe and North America Coordinator.

What you will do:

✔ Develop and implement innovative youth climate action strategies
✔ Represent youth voices at international climate events
✔ Build partnerships and support cross-sectoral collaboration
✔ Help shape the future of youth climate engagement with UNESCO
