Call for Applications for Youth Globally to be part of the UN Decade Youth Task force on Ecosystem Restoration!

 This is an exciting opportunity for young Experts to oin the UN Decade Youth Taskforce. The UN Decade Coordinator has officially launched the 2nd Call for Applications to be part of the Youth Task Force of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration! The UN Decade Coordinator is seeking passionate, driven youth leaders who are ready to make an impact, contribute fresh ideas, and lead action in one of the most important environmental movements of our time. The Youth Task Force will facilitate formal youth engagement in the context of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. The UN Decade Youth Task Force empowers young people to engage meaningfully, aligning with the United Nations Youth 2030 Strategy’s core principles of ‘with and for young people.

Overview

The Youth Task Force facilitates youth engagement in the context of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. It aims at enabling meaningful participation and engagement of the younger generation, in line with the principles of ‘with and for young people’ of the United Nations Youth 2030 Strategy. 

The first UN Decade Youth Task Force ended its term of two years on 31 December 2023, and the UN Decade Coordinator is deeply grateful to all the young experts and advocates who volunteered their time to spearhead this work.

Duties and Reponsibilities

The role of the representative(s) would be to contribute to policy advocacy, including advice to FAO and UNEP as the co-lead agencies; facilitating youth action for the UN Decade; and providing a space for knowledge exchange and capacity building amongst youth constituencies. The term of membership is for an initial 2 years, with possible renewal. Members that served under the first term of the Task Force may be reappointed as appropriate. 

UN Decade Coordinator is looking for representatives from:
1. Youth constituencies/counterparts of UN processes related to ecosystem restoration
2. Youth constituencies/counterparts of UN agencies involved in the UN Decade
3. Person-centric and minority youth stakeholder groups
4. Youth/youth groups identified through this public application process
5. Youth members of the UN Decade Advisory Group (as deemed relevant)

Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee, considering geographical representation, gender balance, and relevant expertise. UN Decade Coordinator encourage all eligible youth leaders and advocates passionate about ecosystem restoration to apply and share this opportunity with their networks. This is an opportunity to contribute to a global movement and make a lasting impact on our planet’s future.
