Call for Applications: EU Funded traineeship for young graduates at the EU Delegation to Rwanda – Political, Press and Information Section
Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Rwanda?
EU offers:
A funded traineeship of 6 months within the Political, Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation to Rwanda, starting in October 2024. The Political, press and information section is in the lead for political reporting, analysis of domestic Rwandan, regional and international developments. This is particularly interesting in regards to the political tensions, but also regional and international dialogue processes in the Great Lakes region. The section also manages the social media presence of the EU Delegation in Rwanda.
Main tasks:
- Media analysis and summaries for media review
- Involvement in strategic and social media communication
- Drafting of analytical and political reports
- Participation in meetings and note-taking/reporting
- Contacts with civil society and participation in external events
Qualifications or special requirements:
- University degree in international relations, African studies, EU studies, political science, public policy, economics, media/journalism or similar disciplines]
- Fluency in English (written and oral expression) as working language
- French, Swahili and Kinyarwanda will be assets
- Interest in political and economic developments in the region, the EU and international affairs
- Some traineeship or other practical experience in a workplace, NGO or association ideally abroad

Important information to read before applying
Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. As an indication, 2023 monthly grants are published here. These amounts may be revised for traineeships starting in 2024. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.
Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.
The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.
Citizens from EU Member states:
- must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
- must undertake to apply for a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable, based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
