2025 PRME Students COP30 Program
The PRME Students COP30 Program, co-organized by PRME Students Africa and Latin America in collaboration with PRME Chapter Africa, Chapter Latin America, and Chapter Brazil, is a cross-regional initiative designed to equip youth from the Global South for meaningful climate action in the lead-up to COP30 in Belém, Brazil (2025).
The 2025 PRME Students COP30 Program is a global, cross-regional initiative designed to equip youth from the Global South and beyond with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed for meaningful engagement in international climate action.
As we approach COP30 in Belém, Brazil (2025), this program offers a unique opportunity to build climate literacy, amplify youth voices, and prepare for active participation in global climate forums. By building climate literacy, amplifying youth voices, and fostering interregional collaboration, the PRME Students COP30 Program aims to strengthen the contributions of African, Middle Eastern, and Latin American youth to COP30 and global climate discussions beyond.
What to Expect in the PRME Students COP30 Program:
- Four-Month Virtual Learning Journey
- Running from July to October 2025, the program features eight interactive workshops delivered by world-class experts and inspiring youth leaders.
Running from July to October 2025, this four-month virtual learning program features an eight-part interactive workshop series, each focusing on critical climate-related themes such as environmental law, Article 6 and carbon markets, climate adaptation, mitigation and net zero, climate finance, AI and climate change, climate change politics and negotiations, and an overview of the UNFCCC treaty.
Each session will feature two speakers: a professional expert with experience in climate science, policy, or sustainable development, and a youth representative actively engaged in climate advocacy or community sustainability work. This dual-speaker format ensures an engaging exchange that combines technical expertise with lived experience and youth innovation.
Critical Climate Topics Covered:
Sessions will explore international climate law, carbon markets, AI for climate solutions, the UNFCCC process, Net Zero strategies, global negotiations, youth leadership, and climate finance, equipping participants with the tools to engage confidently in high-level climate discussions.
Global Networking and Collaboration
Participants will connect with peers, experts, and changemakers from around the world, fostering interregional collaboration and strengthening the Global South’s contribution to climate action.
