Area of ​​activity

GIZ’s Innovation Management sees itself as a hub that brings together innovators and practitioners to foster new solutions and approaches for more effective and efficient international cooperation. The team is working to establish strategic innovation management to systematically embed experimentation, piloting, and scaling across GIZ’s various thematic areas. It initiates innovative project approaches for international cooperation and develops and tests these together with a strong network of implementation partners both within and outside GIZ. In this way, it contributes to an innovative and future-oriented service portfolio for GIZ. Furthermore, it strengthens the visibility and communication of innovations both within and outside GIZ.

Your tasks

The Intern at GIZ Innovation Management will:

  • Support in setting up and implementing various innovation projects from different thematic areas with GIZ units at headquarters, GIZ projects in its partner countries, political actors in Germany, external consultants and international partners.
  • Support in building an innovation portfolio at GIZ, including data collection and technical development of a portfolio management approach.
  • Supporting the team, especially in terms of content and organizational project management (thematic research on specialist topics, preparation of documents and presentations, knowledge management, target group-oriented communication, etc.)
  • Support in the preparation and implementation of a GIZ-wide Innovation Award
  • Support in the field of knowledge management and its methods
  • Support with communication and public relations, in terms of content, design, and organization. This includes the further development and maintenance of the website, the creation of blog posts, the creation and design of presentations, and the identification of relevant events.
  • Ad-hoc support on various topics

Intern at GIZ Innovation Management profile

Required criteria:

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Business Informatics, Data Science, Economics, or another engineering, natural science, or social science discipline
  • Experience in the field of emerging technologies and innovation
  • High affinity for digitalization/innovation topics, – interest in technological and data-related trends
  • Initial experience with various AI applications (especially processing and analysis)
  • Proven experience in creating content for communication materials, including design.
  • Ability to formulate texts and presentations in a clear, stylistically appropriate manner and tailored to the target audience.
  • Self-initiative, flexibility and the ability to work in a structured and independent manner
  • Very good German skills (B2 or higher) and English skills (B2 or higher)
  • Excellent knowledge of common MS Office applications
  • Quick comprehension in the use of new digital applications, as well as openness and willingness to learn towards new tools and technologies.

Desired criteria:

  • Practical work experience in development cooperation
  • Programming experience in Python and/or R.
  • Proven experience in MLOps and DevOps (HuggingFace), CI/CD (GitHub), Microsoft Azure Cloud
  • Experience in AI-based knowledge management

Notes

The GIZ internship is only possible if you are currently enrolled at a university, are participating in a further education program that includes an internship as an integral part of your studies, or if your degree was awarded no more than 6 months prior to the start of the GIZ internship.

The monthly intern salary is €2,349 (gross).
