Think Big Scholarships for international students

Think Big is the University of Bristol’s flagship scholarship scheme, providing funding towards tuition fees for international students studying eligible undergraduate or postgraduate courses.

Eligibility

You can apply if you:

  • have already applied to start an eligible course in September 2026;
  • and you are classed as an overseas student for fee purposes.

You do not need to have received an offer to study before submitting an international scholarship application.

How to apply

Apply using the international scholarships online application form.

By completing the application form, you will be considered for all the Think Big Scholarships for which you are eligible. The application process is the same for all University of Bristol international scholarships. The terms and conditions are also the same.

Timeline

Applications close at 10 am (UK time) on Friday 10 April 2026. You will be contacted about the outcome of your application in May 2026.

Before you start your Think Big Scholarship application

Before beginning your scholarship application form, you must have completed these steps:

  1. Submitted an application to study at the University of Bristol
  2. Received your application ID (this will be a Student ID, Kaplan ID or UCAS ID)
  3. Prepare your scholarship application answers

You can find out more information about how to apply to study at the University of Bristol on the international student webpages.  Once you have received your application ID, you are ready to apply for an international scholarship.

How to navigate the Think Big Scholarship application form

The application form itself is divided into 3 sections:

Section 1 – Personal Details

  • Wherever possible use the same personal details that you used on your application to study at the University of Bristol. This helps the Scholarship System match your Scholarship eligibility with your study application form.

Section 2 – Application Questions

  • Question 1 asks you about your achievements: University of Bristol want to hear about any special skills and achievements, beyond your academic studies, that highlight your ambition and how you made a difference.
  • Question 2 assesses your Ambassadorial Potential: University of Bristol want you to focus on what you might do to benefit your community or how you have built relationships and networks.
  • Question 3 asks you about your studies at Bristol and your future plans: explain what has attracted you to study at the University of Bristol, as well as outlining your ultimate career goals.
  • The maximum character count is 1000 (including spaces) for each question.
  • Each question is scored out of 10 marks.

Section 3 – Terms and conditions

  • You will be asked to agree to University of Bristol data statement, terms and conditions and academic integrity statement.

Application tips

  • Ensure you give yourself plenty of time before the deadline to apply to study and check for errors.
  • Read through each question on the application form and draft your answers in a separate document in advance. Then transfer them into the form.
  • You cannot make any changes to your application after submission so check for errors before you submit.
  • You’ll receive an email confirming receipt of your scholarship application. Check your junk or spam folder if you do not receive it.
