Are you part of a refugee youth-led organization making a difference in your community? The Shift the Power Fund is here to support YOU! This fund is designed to strengthen community-driven, youth-led solutions by providing flexible funding and trust-based support for refugee and displaced youth leaders and their organizations.

About the GRYN Youth Action Fund

The Shift-Power project aims to support refugee-led projects that steer towards meaningful participation of displacement-affected young people in policy processes. The evaluation of applications will highly consider proposals that address this.  Projects eligible for funding must be community-driven, evidence based, and predominantly led and delivered by young refugee leaders all over the world  between the age of 15 and 30 years old.  They can also span various critical areas, including education, healthcare, livelihoods, gender equality, mental health, community integration, environmental sustainability, and peacebuilding working towards policy change in each context.

What projects are funded?

Advocacy-focused projects led by refugee youth (15–30 years old) which:

  • Clearly identify a problem and propose a policy-focused solution
  • Have defined results, planned activities & detailed budget
  • Promote diversity, inclusion & gender equality
  • Focus on areas like education, health, livelihoods, GBV, environment, peacebuilding, etc

What support is available

  • Funding: $1,000–$2,000 USD per selected project
  • Workshops on proposal writing & project implementation templates
  • Advocacy, visibility, and networking opportunities
  • Capacity-building for young project leaders
  • Connect people with support and solutions

Who can apply

  • Refugee Youth-Led Organizations (RYLOs)
  • Based anywhere in the world
  • Group leader must be a refugee aged 15–30
  • No individual applications
  • No AI-generated proposals
  • Only 1 proposal per group

GRYN will prioritize projects that are:

  • Policy-oriented: clear advocacy goals
  • Sustainable: builds long-term skills and leadership
  • Led by young refugees
  • Realistic & feasible
  • Collaborative: with host communities or other orgs
  • Thematically diverse
  • Gender & diversity balanced
