Overview

Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis, so apply as soon as possible!

The School of Climate Change is an acclaimed 8-week course that brings together researchers, experts, and activists from diverse fields to introduce its community to the fundamentals of the climate crisis. Participants will learn from leading academics from Oxford and beyond, getting into topics ranging from the science of the climate crisis and nature-based solutions, to climate activism, economics, the energy transition, planetary boundaries, and communicating the climate crisis. 

The course combines:
• Learning – weekly lectures/interactive sessions led by top academics, experts, and activists followed by a Q&A
• Applying – a capstone group project tackling a climate challenge
• Connecting – socials in Weeks 1, 4, and 8 to network with and learn from fellow participants

Participants who complete a capstone project will all receive certificates of completion at the end of the course

What is the School of Climate Change?

Ths is an 8-week course bringing together researchers, experts, and activists from diverse fields to introduce its community to the issues of the climate crisis.

The climate crisis is an interdisciplinary issue that touches all aspects of our lives. Through bringing together the inspiring work being done in one place, University of Oxford give participants hope that they can take meaningful action against the climate crisis.

Capstone Project

Applying

Through the Capstone Project, participants apply the knowledge and skills gained on the course to a climate change challenge.

In-person and online Programme

Apply for the Hillary 2026 School (January-March) – Hybrid

The course is both in-person and online this Hillary/Spring term 2026 in Oxford. Its re-vamped curriculum brings new themes from doughnut economics to communicating the climate crisis and the Capstone project challenges participants to team up to communicate and envision a climate challenge. You are recommended that you apply in-person if you are Oxford-based
