The Center for Engagement, Environmental Justice and Health (CEEJH INC) is now accepting applications for the 2026 Climate Justice Fellows Program!
CEEJH INC is excited to announce that the 2026 Climate Justice Fellows Cohort will select a total of 50 fellows, spread across three subcohorts: Mid-Atlantic, National, and Global. Selected fellows will have the unique opportunity to work directly with CEEJH subject matter experts in fields such as policy, science, and education. The 2026 Climate Justice Fellows program is designed to provide hands-on experience through active collaboration on policy and advocacy work, air quality initiatives, projects with partner organizations, and the development of educational content for the 2026 Environmental Justice and Health Disparities Symposium.

What is the CEEJH Climate Justice Fellows program?
The CEEJH INC Climate Justice Fellows program is an intensive fellowship that combines education in environmental and climate justice principles with hands-on, practical experience. It is designed to empower individuals to become effective advocates and leaders in their communities through a dynamic, practice-based learning experience.
The program is run by the Center for Engagement, Environmental Justice and Health (CEEJH INC), a leader in community-based environmental advocacy. The program is led by a dedicated team including Dr. Sacoby Wilson (Executive Director), Nicole Jackson (Director of Education), and features direct collaboration with CEEJH subject matter experts in policy, science, and education.
Cohort Structure & Eligibility
For 2026, CEEJH INC is excited to select up to a total of 30 fellows across three distinct subcohorts:
- Mid-Atlantic (individuals residing in DC, DE, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, or WV)
- National (individuals residing in any other state or U.S. territory)
- Global (individuals residing in any country other than the U.S.)
Who should apply?
CEEJH INC seeks passionate individuals over the age of 18 from diverse professional, educational, and geographic backgrounds. The modules are tailored for those with novice to intermediate knowledge of environmental justice. CEEJH INC welcomes everyone from community organizers and students to professionals in unrelated fields (like cybersecurity, law, or auto sales) who want to pivot or apply their skills toward climate justice. You do not need to be currently employed to apply.
Program Structure & Content
What does the program involve?
Fellows will engage in self-guided educational modules and gain hands-on experience by actively collaborating with CEEJH experts on real-world projects. This includes policy and advocacy work, air quality initiatives, projects with partner organizations, developing educational content for our annual symposium, and more.
What is the weekly time commitment and format?
The 2026 program runs from late February, beginning with an orientation, through October. The weekly time commitment is typically 4-10 hours for self-guided modules and virtual meetings. Fellows are also expected to fulfill 2 in-person requirements based on their subcohort.
- Self-Guided Modules: 4-10 hours per week. The variability depends on the module’s content; introductory and more complex topics may take longer.
- Virtual Meetings: There are two weekly virtual sessions:
- One Mandatory Session: All fellows meet to hear the lecture and discuss the weekly module. The timing for this session is often at 10:00 AM EDT, 11:00 AM EDT, or 12:00 PM EDT. CEEJH INC strive to be flexible for working professionals across time zones, but we do expect full participation.
- One Optional Session: A “Lunch and Learn” with guest speakers, typically held on Fridays between 11:00 AM EDT and 1:00 PM EDT.
- Technical Assistance Projects: Designed to align with CEEJH’s mission of empowering frontline communities to dismantle systemic inequities and integrate CEEJH’s core pillars, science, policy, storytelling, and community-led action, and emphasize collaborative flexibility, place-specific diagnosis of injustice, reparative solution design, and grounding in community wisdom.
