Applications are now open for the ‘Climate x’ Leadership Training Program 2026 for college students worldwide from any discipline

Calling all young people worldwide🌍! The Climate x’ Leadership Training Program is now open for applications.

Co-initiated by the Global Alliance of Universities on Climate (GAUC) with strategic support from UNESCO and other global partners, the “Climate x” campaign is designed to empower youth with cutting-edge knowledge and transformative leadership skills. It encourages participants to turn learning into local action, build cross-cultural connections, and generate scalable impact. Since 2021, the campaign has reached nearly 600,000 people through over 500 local events worldwide, with more than 2,000 students from 79 countries actively involved.

By fostering a mindset that recognizes the synergies between climate action and the @UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this training equips the next generation to envision a sustainable future, drive innovation, and unleash their potential to lead the transition to a net-zero world.

Programme Overview

According to Lord Nicholas Stern, Chair of GAUC’s Academic Committee, Chair of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), “Transitioning to a carbon-neutral economy does not just mean switching away from fossil fuels, it is, rather, a paradigm shift in development, which will give rise to a new model of modernization that can benefit the world and contribute to a green and prosperous future.”

The Global Alliance of Universities on Climate (GAUC) is proud to announce the launch of the brand new ‘Climate x’ Leadership Training Program. The program aims to empower youth with the knowledge, skills, and tools, helping them globally envision a sustainable future, take meaningful action, and unlock their potential as talents for the carbon-neutral future.

The youth generation is the backbone of the net-zero future, not only the inheritor, but also the owner, creator, and leader of this future. The ideology of ‘Climate x’ emphasizes that the global development issues we are facing are closely related to each other. To achieve carbon neutrality, it is needed to respect nature, cross-disciplinary barriers, and explore innovative solutions from the perspective of synergies between climate action and the other 16 SDGs
