Call for Applications
The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung e.V. awards full scholarships for a Master’s degree (standard duration: four semesters) or a doctoral program at a university in Germany.
Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is looking for socially or politically engaged students and doctoral candidates from all disciplines who can demonstrate German language proficiency at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference. Excellent academic performance and a positive attitude toward democracy, pluralism, and human rights are also required.
The KAS Scholarship program is aimed at young academics from Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan, Tanzania and Ethiopia. In addition to financial support, KAS scholarship holders benefit from:
- Access to an international network of over 15,000 current and former scholarship recipients of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung,
- A comprehensive seminar program accompanying their studies, and the opportunity to organize their own seminars and events,
- Personal guidance during their studies and career planning by the Foreign Student Support team and our trusted university advisors
KAS Scholarship Program Overview
From funds from the Federal Foreign Office, KAS award full scholarships to international students and doctoral candidates who wish to study or do a doctorate at a German university. KAS also support research stays that are at least four semesters long.
In addition to the financial support, KAS scholarship holders benefit in particular from its international network, the seminar program and personal support.
The doctoral scholarship holders can also become a member of the doctoral colleges of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, which is currently entitled “Social Market Economy”, “ Security and Development in the 21. Work centuries “ and “Democracies in Europe – Transformations after 1990”.
With its promotion, KAS wants to help strengthen democracy and the rule of law and better protect human rights worldwide. That is why KAS expects its scholarship holders to be interested in current political and social issues and to volunteer.
What KAS is looking for:
KAS is looking for young, committed people who are technically powerful and are also interested in the important socio-political developments. KAS is looking for people who regularly volunteer and use their skills for the common good. KAS is looking for personalities who represent democratic values and respectfully meet all people – regardless of gender, origin or religion. When applying, KAS pays particular attention to the following criteria:
- Intellectual skills: You have completed your high school diploma and studies with good to very good grades. You are also open to topics that go beyond your field of study.
- Value orientation: They identify with the values of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and deal with their political content and topics. You can develop your own, reflected point of view on socio-political issues. At the same time, you are tolerant and respectful of people who represent other positions.
- General and political commitment: You are convinced of the value of democracy and human rights. They regularly volunteer for society – be it in the political, social, church or cultural sphere.
- Initiative: You want to actively participate in our ideal funding and regularly contribute to your university group. After completing your studies or doctorate, you will continue to be committed to good relations between your home country and the Federal Republic of Germany.
- Personality: They are motivated, open-minded and have the potential to achieve their self-set goals.
As scholarship holders of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, you benefit from its individual support, an interdisciplinary seminar program and an active university group life. In addition, KAS financial support allows you to focus on your educational goals.
