Applications are now open for the 2025/26 Nature Positive Student Ambassador Programme, by the University of Oxford and the United Nations Environment Programme!

Overview

Nature Positive Universities invite students from universities, colleges and higher education institutions to join its international network to take action and volunteer for nature on their campuses and communities towards a global Nature Positive goal, as well as to share experiences and resources with other students across the world. More information about the programme can be found here.

The Nature Positive Student Ambassador Programme empowers students from universities, colleges and higher education institutions with the tools and resources to lead action to protect and restore nature on their campuses and communities. This programme is an initiative of Nature Positive Universities, which was founded by the University of Oxford and the United Nations Environment Programme.

Nature Positive Student Ambassador Programme

As part of the programme, Nature Positive Universities provide toolkits of campus-based actions, an accompanying workbook to record your progress during your journey, host monthly Zoom workshops on a range of topics and have friendly WhatsApp Community groups that you can join to get inspired and support each other.

Additionally, Nature Positive Universities also provide social media resources and other information to inspire action for biodiversity on your campus and within your community and would love you to share your actions for nature on social media with the #GenerationRestoration. This forms part of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.

Programme Details

This programme involves working through toolkits of campus actions for nature, recording activities in a Nature Positive Universities (NPU) Student workbook and joining six video workshops with other Student Ambassadors to share nature related activities, as well as skills and knowledge, over the course of the programme from November 2025 to May 2026.

Students can join directly to be part of Nature Positive Universities network of Student Ambassadors, whether or not their institutions have made a Nature Positive Pledge and there is also no limit to how many students can sign up from each institution. Whilst ideally students will be supported by staff at their institution, this is not required.
